Or y’know, an unnamed black kid with dreadlocks who’s going to get turned into a metahuman along with the other kidnapped teens. That isn’t exactly grasping at straws.
This is me talking about Mako and Bolin as characters in a written story, not as people. So please don’t take that as an insult to their personalities or whatever.

I see what you’re saying and agree. My only suggestion would be to give it time. In a lot of ways, you could argue that Mako and Bolin are sharing a similar role to what Sokka and Toph did in the original series. As popular as those two were (and as much as I love them) they weren’t as connected to the central plot as Aang or Zuko. That said, Mako and Bolin definitely need some real non-shipping character development.
Since no one else is commenting on it, guess I have to put on the tinfoil hat. One of the kids who got kidnapped along with Jaime’s friend looks exactly like Virgil! That looks like my boy Static at the far right. Phil LaMarr already said that Virgil was going to be in Young Justice, and considering it looks like these teens are going to be turned into metas, it looks like Static will be popping up sometime soon this season.
I have to officially apologize to mocking any fangirls for their crushes on characters like Zuko or Mako. My change of opinion has nothing to do with Asami’s appearance. Not at all.

I actually find it a little depressing that Lobdell managed to get more characterization for Virgil in the single page than Scott McDaniel did in six freaking issues.
